About Baptism / Baby Dedication
What is the meaning of Baptism?
It illustrates Christ’s burial and resurrection.
“For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.”
It illustrates my new life as a Christian.
“When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” —2 Cor. 5:17
It illustrates my existing faith. Baptism doesn’t make you a believer – Baptism does not “save” you—only your faith in Christ does that.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith…it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Who Should be Baptized?
Every person who has believed in Christ. If you were baptized when younger, but walked away from God for a season of your life, you are welcome to be baptized again to display your new commitment.
“Those who believe and accepted His message were baptized…”
What about Baby dedications?
A baby dedication is a ceremony in which parents make a commitment before the Lord to raise their child according to God’s Word and God’s ways, with the hope that one day their child will decide for him/herself to pursue God. We do not baptize babies at CenterSet Church because the Bible teaches that baptism is only for those who have personally accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Very young children cannot make that decision, therefore, as we dedicate our children to the Lord, we are dedicating ourselves to love, nurture and train them to know and follow Jesus!
